Falls are the leading cause of injury and accidental death in adults over the age of 65. Clutter and other tripping hazards, poor balance, and distractions can all cause a person to stumble and fall. This presentation will highlight fall prevention strategies that individuals can implement in their daily activities of life that will reduce their risk of falling. The presentation will cover topics such as home safety, the importance of doctor visits, medication management, and strength and balance exercises. The Arizona Falls Prevention Coalition provides information, advice, helpful hints, and tips to prevent falls and fall injuries by the elderly in Arizona. An overview of the State’s Coalition will be discussed, along with evidence-based programming resources, and membership opportunities.
