Pandemics like Covid19 require rapid diagnostic tests to mitigate viral spread and potential future reoccurrence. Asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals can spread the virus to multiple individuals, threatening an exponential increase in infections. Medical communities and governments across Arizona are struggling to control the spread of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid19, due to limited access to sensitive, reliable tests to detect and trace infections. Thus, there is an urgent need for a highly sensitive, high throughput test to help inform the management of current epidemics. At ASU we, as a community, have the capabilities to mobilize and test a large number of individuals. In addition to providing additional testing capacity for our clinical partners, the university is providing testing capacity to support critical workforce including health care workers, first responders and infrastructure personnel.
